Rockets plan to guarantee Gerald Green’s contract

Only a week after being signed by the Houston Rockets to a non-guaranteed deal, their front office personnel have already made up their minds on Gerald Green’s contract, guaranteeing it until the end of the season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This comes after seeing the veteran swingman string four consecutive solid performances for the Rockets and helping the team get by without James Harden who is currently injured.

Green has been playing well for the Rockets, including back-to-back superb outings where he scored a total of 56 points and knocked down 15 3-pointers. He is now averaging 13.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.o steals in 22.0 minutes. More importantly, Green has provided a spark for the Rockets and lessens the scoring load Chris Paul, Eric Gordon, and Trevor Ariza have to carry with The Beard sidelined.

Gerald Green was originally the 18th overall pick back in 2005 and has suited up for eight different franchises. He started the season without a team but has now found a home with the Rockets, where his scoring ability will be put into good use.

With his contract slated to be guaranteed, it will be interesting to see how he’ll perform from here on out. If Green will be able to continue playing at the level he’s in right now, his signing could prove to be one of the most important ones the Rockets have made this season. Gerald Green will also have a chance to resurrect his career and set himself up for more success in the coming years.
