Some key NBA schedule dates have been revealed for the 2019-20 campaign, and among those dates is Jan. 9, when Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook will return to Oklahoma City to face his old Oklahoma City Thunder squad, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Westbrook was traded from Oklahoma City to Houston last month in a blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul to the Thunder.

The 30-year-old spent the first 11 years of his career in OKC and became a beloved figure in the city, making eight All-Star teams and winning the NBA's Most Valuable Player award in 2017.

Of course, Westbrook played alongside Kevin Durant for the first eight years of his career, going to an NBA Finals in 2012 and reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2011, 2014 and 2016.

However, Durant proceeded to leave the Thunder for the Golden State Warriors during the summer of 2016, creating an animosity between Westbrook and Durant that remains somewhat palpable to this day.

But Westbrook continued to win over Oklahoma City after signing a contract extension with the club, marking his commitment to the franchise that drafted him back in 2008.

The Thunder tried to surround Westbrook with the appropriate talent over the last couple of years, adding pieces like Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, but nothing worked, as Oklahoma City was bounced from the first round of the playoffs each of the past three seasons.

As a result, both the Thunder and Westbrook decided it was time to move on, especially after George was dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Westbrook boasts career averages of 23.0 points, 8.4 assists and 7.0 rebounds per game.
