The Houston Rockets have just received some tremendous news with regards to the recovery of superstar point guard Russell Westbrook. The 31-year-old earlier tested positive for COVID-19, but according to a new report, he has recently been cleared and is expected to rejoin the Rockets soon.

Russell Westbrook has cleared the NBA’s quarantine protocol and will practice with the Rockets today, per source.

This is a great piece of development for the Rockets, who might just get Russell Westbrook back right in time for the season restart. It was initially expected that the former Most Valuable Player winner was set to miss a game or two as he recovered from the dreaded coronavirus, but fortunately, Westbrook has beaten the odds yet again.
Westbrook has been amazing in his first season with Houston, averaging 27.5 points (on 47.4 percent shooting), 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.7 steals in 35.9 minutes per contest. He may no longer be averaging a triple-double like he was during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but there's no denying that he has been a crucial piece for the Rockets and their championship-aspirations this season.
The Rockets entered the hiatus with a 40-24 record, which is currently good for the sixth spot in a ruthless Western Conference. Houston, however, is just two and a half games behind the third-placed Denver Nuggets, which means that every one of the eight regular-season games the Rockets are scheduled to play will be crucial in terms of positioning in the playoffs. Needless to say, Westbrook will be one of the most important players for the Rockets the rest of the way.
