The winter storm sweeping the United States is leaving also having an impact on NBA schedule. The Houston Rockets were slated to host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, but the NBA announced Thursday the game has been postponed due to severe weather conditions.

Friday's Rockets-Mavs game marks the second postponement due to weather this week, following the postponement of Wednesday's scheduled showdown between the Mavs and Detroit Pistons. The Mavs-Pistons postponement eventually led the NBA to pit Detroit against the Chicago Bulls, instead.
An abundance of cold weather and snow in the last week caused havoc especially in the state of Texas. As many as 4.5 million Texans were without power in their homes earlier in the week, and there are 450,000 homes and businesses still without power, per CNN:
Texas officials say a deep freeze starting Sunday crippled utilities' power generation, causing rolling blackouts or continuous outages. The issues affect a Texas-only grid that covers 90% of the state and is isolated from the rest of the country, so the grid cannot import power from elsewhere to make up for the shortage.
There was also some controversy after Texas Senator Ted Cruz took a vacation to Cancun, only to return home after garnering ample criticism.
Meanwhile, the Rockets will have to wait to get another crack at stopping the losing streak. Houston's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday brought that streak to seven games. The Rockets are winless since Christian Wood went down against the Memphis Grizzlies on Feb. 4, and have fallen to a tie for 13th in the Western Conference.
