Houston Rockets star James Harden put on a show Thursday night against their Western Conference rival, the Golden State Warriors. So much so, that even Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had to acknowledge the greatness of the reigning MVP.

Kerr explained how he believes Harden is changing the game as we know it:

“He's very unique,” Kerr said, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “Certain players change the game. Allen Iverson changed the game, changed the way players dribble. They change the way young players watch them, other players watch them, like Iverson. Harden is one of those guys. He has changed the way people draw fouls and he's gotten really good at it. He's the best in the league at it.”

Harden is currently taking over 11 attempts per game from the charity stripe and making over nine of them, and he's leading the league in this particular category — for the fifth season running:

“It takes somebody really unique and special to literally change the way the whole league is playing and the way they look at the game and James has done that with his ability to draw contact and get to the line. If you think you can reach in there and get the ball from him, you are crazy. You are not going to do it. You are just going to foul him.”

On Thursday night, though, James Harden only made eight free throws on nine attempts against the Warriors. Nonetheless, he dropped a game-high 44 points (on 13-of-32 shooting) along with 10 3-pointers, 10 rebounds, 15 assists, one steal, two blocks, and seven turnovers in the overtime victory.
