Despite an all-important meeting reported to have occurred, the Houston Rockets are reportedly not going to let Carmelo Anthony go despite his poor play, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Anthony sat out Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs due to an illness. Melo reportedly practiced fully with the team on Friday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Rockets lost to the Spurs Saturday, dropping their record to 4-7. If Houston has a change of heart and decides to cut Carmelo Anthony, the franchise would owe the veteran scorer the full $2.4 million he signed for.

Melo has appeared in 10 games this season and is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc. The former All-Star is coming off the worst statistical season of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder last year. After the season ended, the Thunder traded Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks, who then waived the scoring forward so he could join his pal Chris Paul in Houston.

Paul actually advocated the Rockets' front office to sign Anthony. In the 10 games Melo has played in, Houston has a net rating of -9.0 with Anthony on the court and +1.8 with him on the bench.

It appears this situation is very fluid. We may not have a clear answer until Sunday.
