The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly discussed a trade with the Houston Rockets, but it did not involve either Marc Gasol or Mike Conley, whom they are trying to move before the trade deadline on Thursday.

The Rockets are trying to unload Brandon Knight's contract, and the Grizzlies are said to be interested in him. However, Memphis is reluctant to part ways with any of their assets because they are prioritizing trade offers for Gasol and Conley, according to Kevin O'Connor of TheRinger.com.

The Grizzlies and Rockets have also discussed a trade involving point guard Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss, according to league sources. Houston has been trying to dump Knight’s salary, which is on the books for $15.6 million next season, and will attach a first-round pick to get it done. It’s expected that Memphis would send JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple to the Rockets. The fate of Conley and Gasol comes first, though.

The Grizzlies will be missing the playoffs this season and are planning to start rebuilding next season. As much as possible, they would like to get as many assets as they can in a trade involving their franchise's former cornerstones. Memphis is reportedly not going to entertain low returns for Gasol and Conley.

With less than 48 hours to go before the trade deadline, a deal involving the Grizzlies' former stars seem imminent. The question is who will be trading for them? Yes, there are teams interested in acquiring Gasol and Conley, but are they willing to give up a significant amount of assets in a trade involving aging veterans?
