There's optimism within the Houston Rockets organization that All-Star point guard Chris Paul will only miss two-to-three weeks with a left hamstring injury, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Chris Paul suffered the injury on Thursday against the Miami Heat. After the game, Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni said Paul is most likely going to be out for a while.

Chris Paul has a history of hamstring injuries. The nine-time All-Star suffered a hamstring strain in Game 5 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors and was forced to miss Games 6 and 7. Houston lost to the Warriors in seven games.

In 26 games this season, Chris Paul is averaging 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game and shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.

CP3 signed a lucrative four-year, $159.7 million maximum contract in the summer with the Rockets, a contract that is looking kind of bad right now considering Paul is getting older and owed $38.5 million next year and $41.4 million in 2020-21.

Chris Paul was set to get an MRI on Friday. The Rockets haven't released the results yet. The MRI will tell us if Paul suffered a Grade 1, 2 or 3 hamstring strain.
