The Houston Rockets would reportedly move “heaven and earth” if they could acquire Kawhi Leonard this summer, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Leonard becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Toronto Raptors.

The Rockets don't have any cap space to sign a max contract player like Leonard, so general manager Daryl Morey would have to find a way to get rid of Chris Paul and Clint Capela's contract to even have a chance to sign Kawhi.

One league source said that Houston “would move heaven and earth” if it could acquire someone like Kawhi Leonard, who has shown he can lead a team to the Finals — first with San Antonio and now Toronto. Every other big-name free agent will be on Houston’s radar as well, as GM Daryl Morey looks for an avenue to climb into that elusive championship tier.

Leonard is one of the best players in the NBA. If the Rockets somehow paired him with James Harden in Houston, the Rockets would finally contend for a title.

However, it would be a miracle if the Rockets even got a free agent meeting with Leonard. Kawhi has been more linked to the Los Angeles Clippers if he decides to leave the Raptors.
