The Houston Rockets are still largely expected to re-sign their restricted free agent Clint Capela, who is yet to receive any offers from teams around the NBA, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports.

Capela recently turned down a four-year, $85 million deal and previously was offered a mere four-year, $60 million by the Rockets, who are hindered by giving point guard Chris Paul a four-year, $160 million max deal this summer, as their main priority.

The Swiss center has been rumored to aim at a Steven Adams-like paycheck, a deal in the neighborhood of four years for $100 million — feeling he is in the same realm as the Oklahoma City Thunder big dipper.

The Rockets are intent in signing Capela but would have to risk being in salary cap purgatory for the future, if they decide to dole out big money to their big man. If they choose to do so, they would commit to the Paul-Harden-Capela trio for the next four years altogether.

Capela averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks through 74 games in what was undoubtedly the best season of his NBA career. He’s earned $6.1 million throughout his four-year run and is bound for a lucrative raise after becoming the team’s lob target and lone remaining defensive stalwart.
