The Houston Rockets are at Moda Center tonight to face the Portland Trail Blazers in a matchup between two of the best teams since the start of the season’s second half. Apart from that, this game also features two of the hottest players right now with James Harden locking horns with Damian Lillard.

Harden is currently winning the battle, though, as he already has 35 points as of this writing, while Lillard only has 13. At one point during the early goings of the third quarter, Harden found himself in an isolation situation against Lillard.

Alpha male against alpha male.

This is what most people in attendance have paid good money for to watch.

With a series of quick and sick crossover dribbles, however, the leading MVP candidate managed to shake off Lillard and blow by past him for a layup, even fishing a foul on his way to the basket.

In fairness to Damian Lillard, he was guarding arguably the toughest player to cover one-on-one. According to NBA Advanced Stats, Harden paces the entire league in points on isolation plays with 11.8 per game on a sterling 56.7 effective field goal percentage.

Life has been great for the Rockets so far this season, mainly because they have James Harden. Harden has simply been playing out of his mind. Despite the addition of another superstar to the team in the form of Chris Paul, Harden still manages to find a way to stand out. On the season, the bearded superstar posts up 31.0 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per contest.
