John Wall’s near-foot amputation story is bonkers
Houston Rockets star John Wall had a long road back to the NBA, but it could have been much worse, as a foot amputation was once allegedly on the table.
Wall’s comeback has proved to be an inspiring one. Almost out for two years due to an injury, including a ruptured Achilles, Wall is ready to compete for a championship.
During an interview with Shams Charania, Wall recalled all of the rehab that he went through as well as infections he had to fight off during his tenure as a Washington Wizard.

In the interview, Wall explained he implemented a diet change and hired a physical therapist to take care of his body. With those improvements that he made, he also experienced a devastating setback with the reoccurrence of infections in his heel. Wall remembered how the thought of amputating his foot was a possibility while he was recovering. One can only imagine how devastating the thought of never playing basketball again while recovering from an injury can be.
That did not stop John Wall from fighting back and reaching the point to where he is today: on the Houston Rockets and ready to lead once again. He told Charania that being on the Rockets, especially with DeMarcus Cousins, will be his fresh start. Knowing that he has been a leader his entire life, Wall has been enjoying the fact that he can play basketball at the professional level again.
With the Rockets star smiling on the court during the preseason, Wall is in high spirits and will help lead a struggling Rockets team to be the best that they can be. The NBA can’t wait for John Wall to compete in the regular season.
