Colorado Rockies star third baseman Nolan Arenado shared a note with members of the fanbase following his recent comments in which he voiced displeasure and cited “disrespect” coming from some members of the organization.

Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, who also helped break the news of Arenado's initial comments, tweeted out a note from the multiple-time Gold Glove Award winner in which Arenado says he is “working hard to get better for my teammates and my fans:”

Arenado has been a focus of trade rumors throughout the offseason, and the Rockies have been shopping the All-Star as they grapple with payroll concerns and a weak farm system.

However, Arenado was reportedly not upset with the trade rumors. Instead, he appears to be frustrated with Colorado's inactivity after the Rockies went 71-91 last season (via Jeff Passan of ESPN).

The disrespect, sources told ESPN, centered on the Rockies' winter of inaction less than a year after the team signed Arenado to an eight-year, $260 million contract extension. When the organization signaled early this offseason that it did not intend to expand its payroll this winter, Arenado expressed betrayal, according to sources, believing Colorado was not doing enough to improve a team coming off a 71-91 season.

Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich suggested the Rockies were tabling trade discussions on Monday, but Arenado's comments fired up the rumor mill yet again. However, Passan also reported the Rockies are demanding a fortune in exchange for their franchise centerpiece.

Although Arenado is seemingly putting out this statement as a way of assuaging fans, it hardly inspires a sense of optimism or a feeling that he truly wants to remain in Colorado.

This saga is likely far from over.
