Roger Federer is widely regarded as the greatest tennis player of all time. However, what may be unknown to many is his appreciation for basketball, especially the sneakers of Michael Jordan.

The 19-time Grand Slam Singles winner appeared on the latest episode of Complex's “Sneaker Shopping,” where he discussed his admiration for His Airness, and also shared how he watched him growing up. He then added what Jordan meant to the sport of basketball and how much he was liked in his home country.

“I watched every Sunday (highlight) show,” Federer said. “Michael was the guy. He transcended basketball and was the hero of our entire generation.”

“In Switzerland and in Germany, and where I grew up, (Jordan) was so big, and so well-liked, so successful, well-spoken,” Federer explained. “He had the perfect run going for so long.”

Even with his elite status, Federer remains humble enough to express his awe for a fellow sporting great. In professional tennis, he has won almost all tournaments and has a total of 93 career titles. He has also been ranked the number one player in the world for majority of his illustrious career, and continues to dominate the sport even at 36 years old.

As the saying goes, real recognizes real, and for Roger Federer and Michael Jordan, it could be GOAT recognizes GOAT, as there’s no doubt they are the two best in their sports.
