The opening weekend of the BIG3 league was a success, giving fans a healthy dose of nostalgia with the likes of Allen Iverson and Brian Scalabrine doing their business on the court just like the old days, but not quite.

While the attention has been satisfactory thus far, commissioner Roger Mason Jr. still admitted recently that he has a wishlist of former players he wants to participate in their league. He revealed, via Mark J. Burns of Forbes, that he wishes Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Tracy McGrady, and of course, Michael Jordan himself will all join next year.

Mason understands that Bryant has a lot of business ventures going on, but also knows that the former MVP might feel the itch of competing once again, which Mason hopes will happen soon.

“I think he’s still figuring out what he’s doing, he’s got a lot of different ventures.”

“I think we’ll give it another year, have him miss it a little bit and then hopefully he’ll come join.”

He then gave a special shoutout to The Big Fundamental during one of his speeches, and asked his former teammate to call him if he's interested to join.

“Timmy, call me man.”

“Next year.”

Mason believes that the appeal their league has at this early stage already speaks a lot on its potential, even recounting how he witnessed Paul Pierce‘s reaction to the experience of watching the games live.

“I’ll tell you one thing, (last Sunday) Paul Pierce showed up and was blown away. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has the itch to join this league as well.”

Although it's a long-shot to see all these legends playing in the league next year, stranger things have happened in the past.
