Two of the most athletic point guards of this era worked out together this offseason — New York Knicks acquisition Derrick Rose and Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook. Both 6-foot-3 floor generals were workout partners months prior to the start of the season and met for sessions this year in Los Angeles and Las Vegas during the summer.

While the two have shared freakish athletic prowess, deemed at one point in their careers as the one-two of athletic specimens at the position, they also share the inconvenient off-court matters one must keep quiet about.

Rose had an impending rape civil suit awaiting him for the preseason and Westbrook had just undergone a viral breakup with 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant and signed a three-year, $85.7 million deal to become the Thunder's unequivocal star.

“I didn't want to ask him about it. For real,” Rose told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “I think my friends asked him what was going on and even then I wasn't around to hear it. They probably know more than me. He normally gives me my space when I have things going on. And he doesn't ask me about stuff so I didn't ask him.”

Westbrook was reportedly ticked off by the way Durant chose to communicate his decision to join the Golden State Warriors this offseason through a text message. Both guards ultimately bonded through workouts and not through contract, civil, or personal matters.
