George Karl was hired by the Sacramento Kings in February 2015.

He came in as a replacement for former head coach Mike Malone, and into an eight-year playoff drought.

The moment coach Karl stepped foot into the organization, Rudy Gay sent a chilling message to him, via ESPN's Marc Stein.

An aside on Gay: He’s quoted in an advance copy of George Karl’s forthcoming book “Furious George,” due to be published in January by Harper-Colins, as telling Karl when he met the new Sacramento coach for the first time in February 2015, ‘Welcome to basketball hell'.

Instead of trying to make the situation better, Karl came in and demanded the organization trade DeMarcus Cousins causing a rift between the two that is still not fully repaired.

The players were uncomfortable with the offense, and even wanted Karl fired by All-Star weekend. The dysfunction continued all season, and guard Seth Curry even asked to have his qualifying offer rescinded.
