NetEase has ceased the operations of the game, as Rules of Survival shuts down four years after its initial release.

Rules of Survival, one of if not the first battle royale games on mobile, will finally close its doors to users today, June 27, 2022. NetEase, the publisher of the game, announced Rules of Survival shutting down back in April, four and a half years since its release in November 2017.

The game will be shutting down after its big 2.0 update, dubbed “New Era New Hope”, failed to garner more players and encourage existing ones to play more. The game, which was once one of the most popular mobile games around the world, has since been overtaken by games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile. With the game lagging behind in terms of graphics, features, and overall gameplay experience, Rules of Survival quickly fell behind its competition.

NetEase promised that compensation will be given for unused Diamonds (the game's premium, paid-for currency) that are still in the server account at the time of the game's deletion. However, the window for filing a refund is only eight hours long, which will be from June 28 at 10:00 PM PT to June 29 at 3:00 AM PT.
