In spite of the fact that Gregg Williams has led the Cleveland Browns to a 5-2 record since taking over for Hue Jackson midway through the season, the Browns do not appear to be committed to him at the moment.

As a matter of fact, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase could be a potential frontrunner for the Cleveland job should the Dolphins fire Gase. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has been a fan of Gase for quite some time.

This is kind of odd, seeing as how Gase has not exactly had much success in Miami and the Browns have done well under Williams,

Seeing as how Cleveland had just jour games from 2015 through 2017 combined, you would think the organization would jump at the opportunity to retain a coach who led the team to five wins over the course of seven weeks, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Gase became head coach of the Dolphins in 2016, leading them to 10 wins and a playoff appearance during his first season. However, since then, Miami has struggled, going just 6-10 last year and currently owning a record of 7-8 heading into the final week of the 2018 campaign.

The Browns have an opportunity to post their first winning season since 2007 this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, as they are currently 7-7-1.

Cleveland has not made the playoffs since the 2002-03 campaign, currently the longest active playoff drought in the NFL.

In spite of the fact that Williams does not appear to be the frontrunner for the Browns, Rapoport states that he will at least receive an inteview.
