Coming off a massive win against the Clemson Tigers in Week 1, the now No. 2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are getting set to face UAB on Saturday.

According to 247sports.com, they may have to do so without star quarterback JT Daniels, who's listed as questionable for the game.

JT Daniels' status for Georgia's home opener against UAB on Saturday is in question. According to persons with knowledge of the situation, Daniels is dealing with an injury to his core, likely ribs or oblique.

Those same sources indicate that the injury isn't long-term but that Daniels is truly day to day for the time being. He practiced on Monday but did not get in much work at all on Tuesday with Carson Beck getting a large portion of the first-team reps.

Daniels is a huge part of the operation for Georgia and their hopes of winning a national title. It was just earlier in the week that head coach Kirby Smart mentioned that the Bulldogs were dealing with a Covid-19 spike on the team and now news of Daniels' injury has surfaced.

The good thing going for Georgia is that they're facing a far inferior opponent in UAB this weekend. UAB isn't bad by any means, but there's a reason the Bulldogs opened as 24.5 point favorites for the game.

An add on to the “good news” front is that it was noted that while Daniels is suffering from the core injury, it is not expected to be a long-term injury that lingers for the Georgia gunslinger.
