The Green Bay Packers made headlines with the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy. It appears he already has his sights set on a potential gig with the Seattle Seahawks.

There has been some speculation regarding McCarthy's next landing spot. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, he is reportedly interested in joining the Seahawks:

“Several close to McCarthy also believe his ultimate dream job would be to reunite with his close friend John Schneider – whom he worked with in Green Bay – in Seattle, were Pete Carroll to retire at any point in the not-too-distant future, though Carroll has shown no signs of slowing down and has the Seahawks back in the playoffs were they to start today.”

This is certainly an interesting development. Seattle had made some significant changes to their roster this offseason. As a result, many felt they were in the early stages of a rebuild. However, It is clear that the Seahawks are still playing at a high level. Their success has seemingly started to attract some big names.

Although McCarthy's tenure with Green Bay ended unceremoniously, he is still a household name on the coaching market. Only a handful of head coaches in the NFL today have actually managed to win a Super Bowl. This would make him a seamless fit into the championship mindset that had been built in Seattle over the last several years.

Carroll has not given any indication that he plans on retiring in the near future. However, it would still be smart of the Seahawks to start thinking of a potential replacement to groom under him for a few years. With no shortage of potential offers, it will be interesting to see when McCarthy decides to return t coaching.
