The mother of Philadelphia 76ers point guard Markelle Fultz reportedly had cameras installed inside Fultz's New Jersey home during his rookie season, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

The cameras are no longer in the house, but people familiar with the situation believe Markelle Fultz's mom is too overprotective.

Ebony had cameras installed inside his New Jersey home, according to several people familiar with the setup who described the indoor surveillance as unusual. The cameras have since been removed. Multiple people said Ebony has asked some who have dealt with Fultz to sign nondisclosure agreements for reasons that are unclear to them.

“There’s definitely crazy [expletive] going on with the mom and how involved she is and how overprotective she is,” said a person with a close connection to Fultz. “The best possible situation is if the mom just backs off for a period of time and gives him a chance to breathe.”

This Markelle Fultz situation somehow keeps getting stranger by the day. The former No. 1 overall pick only played in 14 games last season due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder. After an offseason which saw Fultz work out with renowned shooting coach Drew Hanlen, the prevailing thought was Fultz would be back to normal this season.

That hasn't been the case at all. Markelle Fultz got diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome a few weeks ago and is expected to miss around a month. There are rumors circulating the Sixers want to part ways with Fultz, and it's hard not to see why given everything that has transpired since they drafted the combo guard.
