Russell Westbrook ended 2016 in perfect fashion.

Another triple-double capped off a banner year for the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard. In 2016, Westbrook recorded an astonishing 31 triple-doubles, the most ever in a year besides Oscar Robertson.

It was also the 16th time this season that Westbrook recorded a triple-double, and the Thunder are 13-3 in those games. He goes after the numbers more than anyone but it's hard to question that they're helping the team win as much as anything else as well.

On the season, Westbrook is averaging 30.9 points, 10.7 assists and 10.5 rebounds per game. Again, no player since Robertson has averaged a triple-double this late in the season.

If Westbrook keeps it up, an MVP award may very well be coming his way. He appears to be the frontrunner at this point, although former teammates James Harden is also making a strong case.

If Westbrook sticks to his formula, doing everything he possibly can for the Thunder, the award will be his to lose.
