After signing a contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook continues to express his love for the city.

The extension that Westbrook signed gave him big bucks and made him look like the hero the city needs. Many believed that Westbrook would flee OKC now that Kevin Durant is gone; he is out there proving all of those people wrong. In a recent Instagram post with Enes Kanter, Westbrook was seen wearing a shirt showing his loyalty to the city.

We ???? ⚡️ #ThunderUp ????????❤️????????

If Westbrook decides to keep that loyalty up then it could pay big dividends for him. The Thunder will have the ability to make Westbrook the first player in NBA history to sign a $200 million contract. It would be a smart idea for Westbrook to take that deal not only because of the money, but the fact that the Thunder could also give him five years. All other NBA teams could only offer Westbrook a four-year deal, something that might be a problem as he gets older.

Signing a five-year deal would practically guarantee Westbrook a statue outside of the Thunder's arena. He would not only be the first player the team drafted when making the move to Oklahoma City, but also the first superstar to dedicate himself to the team.

While signing Westbrook is all good and well for the Thunder, it is all about winning. The organization has to prove that they can put the right pieces around him. Westbrook has the ability and mental attitude to be a champion. The next two seasons will not only be huge for Russell Westbrook, it will be huge for the Thunder.
