GSC Game World kicked off the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise way back in 2007 and it has captured the hearts of players ever since. The most recent entry in the game came out in 2009 but players have been clamoring for a return to Chernobyl for over a decade. The developers finally answered the players' calls with the official announcement of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Now that we have a better look at the game, Microsoft decided to tack on one bigger bombshell for fans and loyalists of the Xbox side.

Worth the wait

The Xbox Game Pass library undoubtedly tilted the scales of the console war in Microsoft's favor. This much is true even without the inclusion of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Fortunately for premium subscribers of Microsoft's latest console, they get to try S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on day one of the game's release. GSC Game World simply stated that “you can be confident that the game will come to Xbox Game pass on day one.” Additionally, the Ukrainian game developer explicitly stated the inclusion of 4K resolution support, fast SSD load times, and Ray Tracing support.

“We’re progressing smoothly, including Xbox Series X|S versions as well. The aim is to deliver the product of the highest quality possible on every platform it’s announced for. With fast SSD, RTX support (both Series X and S) and 4K-resolution (Series X), we’re pleased to see how S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is shaping up to be the ultimate experience we’ve initially promised.”

The game engine trailer showcased vastly upgraded graphics for the franchise. It's not surprising that it would push to support high-fidelity settings. The official release date has yet to be announced but Xbox owners will undoubtedly be at the forefront of the game once it launches. The return of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. gives hope for several beloved franchises to rise up from years of inactivity. Microsoft just made the Xbox Game Pass subscription more tantalizing.
