The New Orleans Saints may be targeting a playmaker that will be compared to Michael Thomas throughout the offseason. The NFL Draft prospect in question? Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave.

On the daily Locked On Saints podcast, Ross Jackson discussed Olave as a popular target for the Saints in several mock drafts. Moreover, he details his game and how he resembles Michael Thomas.

Jackson: So, let’s talk about some of the bullet points when it comes to the Saints drafting Chris Olave. A few things you should know about him. He is really good at just about everything you have to do as a wide receiver but in particular, he is an excellent route runner, he sells hard in and out of his breaks, he is a threat in the short, intermediate, and deep area, really crisp and fantastic footwork as well. We have really grown to appreciate that watching former Ohio State guy as well, Mr. Can’t Guard Mike Michael Thomas himself.

He creates a ton of separation with his ability as a route runner and has good hands as well. He can play inside and out, not really much experience in special teams, however, especially in the return game but provides some versatility in what he can do along the offense. Great field awareness and body control as well. He is not going to be the fastest guy at the combine, but he can outrun some defenders in space if he gets the opportunity and because of the fact that he creates separation with his routes. He does he get that chance every now and then. He is not going to be the kind of guy to fight through contact with the ball in his hands, but he will fight through contact at the line of scrimmage. He is great off of the line.
