The New Orleans Saints, following the departure of Mark Ingram, continue to look for running back mates to Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara. Though both Latavius Murray and Javarious Allen found their way to the Bayou City, the team is bringing in another veteran back.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Alfred Morris will be the latest back to visit New Orleans. Yesterday, pass-catching ace and former Detroit Lion Theo Riddick came in for a visit.

Morris has been productive throughout his NFL career that started with the Washington Redskins. In his rookie year, he surprisingly led the NFL in rushing yards, average per carry, and touchdowns, with 1,613, 4.8, and 13, respectively. He earned a Pro-Bowl nod for his efforts, then doubled up in 2014, where he tallied 1,275 yards and seven touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry. In 2015, he topped 1,000 yards for the third consecutive season.

Since 2015, Morris has bounced around a bit, playing in mostly a backup role. He tallied 790 yards and three touchdowns as a Cowboy between 2016 and '17. In 2018, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, he remained productive as a rotational back; compiling 428 yards and two scores on the ground and starting one game out of 11.

If signed by the Saints, expect Morris to continue to play as a backup. He's a bludgeoning back that can offer a change of pace from the more elusive Kamara but could be behind Murray, as he figures to be the second back. Nonetheless, the 30-year-old appears to have some gas left in the tank and would solidify a deep Saints back group.
