The New Orleans Saints are reportedly open to trading running back Alvin Kamara heading into the 2020 NFL season. Although his notable absence from training camp has served as a distraction, it is his desired price tag that is serving as the primary dealbreaker. According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, Kamara is looking for a similar deal to that of Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey:

It is safe to say that Alvin Kamara has provided the Saints with plenty of bang for their buck since being taken in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Like McCaffrey, his versatile skill set makes him one of the most potent offensive weapons in the league after racking up Pro Bowl honors in each of his three seasons.

Unfortunately, the Saints find themselves strapped for cash at the moment thanks to the looming financial repercussions of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic making it even more difficult to get long-term deals done. While reports indicate that they are willing to sign a contract that pays him more than the $12 million annual price tag that Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon just signed, Alvin Kamara's camp is adamant about leaning toward the $16 million per year McCaffrey is earning.

If New Orleans does not to go through with the trade, there should be no shortage of potential suitors interested in acquiring Alvin Kamara given his impressive resume. The question remains just what they will be able to get for him at this point given his contract situation.
