Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, NFL stadiums won't likely see fans in attendance for the majority of the 2020 season. In order to replicate the game-day atmosphere during games, the league has decided to instate fake crowd noise for the time being. A few New Orleans Saints stars feel like they were short-changed by the league over this.

The Saints have recently practiced with crowd noise set to the 70-75 decibel range. Running back Alvin Kamara and cornerback Marshon Lattimore both claimed it still won't come close to the actual experience they've had playing at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

“The crowd noise that the league approved is nothing compared to what the Dome sounds like,” Kamara told NOLA.com. “I feel like they kind of played us on that.”

Lattimore also chimed in and said, “The Dome, it can’t be re-created. The Dome, it gets loud. You can barely hear.”

Saints fans are notably known as one of the loudest in the league, creating noise levels measured at over 120 decibels. On the other hand, the fake crowd noises settle in at a measly 70 decibels, equivalent to the sound emitted by a household vacuum cleaner.

In response to the matter, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has claimed that there’s no real competitive advantage to the presence or absence of fans. However, it would be an understatement to say that the Saints never fed off from the energy of their 74,000 fans in attendance.

Regardless of the situation, Kamara, Lattimore, and the rest of the Saints will aim to power through the different circumstances and put their focus on their Super Bowl aspirations for the upcoming season.
