The New Orleans Saints were given their first obstacle of the year with running back Mark Ingram suspended for the first four games in 2018 NFL season. Fortunately, running back Alvin Kamara is not worried about how it affects his role to start.

New Orleans unearthed a gem in Kamara last season. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, this is why he is confident that New Orleans will be able to maintain their high-powered offensive attack.

“From the beginning, I’ve said, ‘Whatever I have to do,'” Kamara said. “I trust Sean, and I trust our coaches. So however it unfolds, we’ll just handle it like that.”

Needless to say, there is good reason for him to be optimistic despite the absence of his backfield mate. Kamara toted the ball 120 times for 728 yards and eight touchdowns. He also managed to haul in 81 receptions for 826 yards and five touchdowns en route to Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. He did all this while serving as the complementary back to Ingram. That said, he is likely excited for the opportunity to prove he is capable of handling the full workload.

Kamara can expect much different start to the season than he did last year. The Saints made headlines when they decided to bring running back Adrian Peterson into the mix. However, it was not long before Peterson was traded and Kamara began to emerge as one of the most exciting, young running backs in the league. Interestingly enough, New Orleans has not ruled out the possibility of bringing Peterson back to help fortify the backfield.
