With Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey recently receiving a massive payday, seemingly due to his ability to both run and catch the football, the versatile offensive weapon has notably become the highest paid player at his position in NFL history. With the Panthers standout and former first round pick in McCaffrey already taken care of, it appears New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who can do similar things to his NFC South counterpart, may be next in line for a lucrative contract.

However, Kamara of the Saints remains focused solely on football in the meantime; it hasn't even been a week since McCaffrey received his new four-year contract.

“Man, look, I don’t even,” Kamara said of the news regarding McCaffrey. “I just play football. I’m just a football guy, I don’t know nothing about contracts, and all these things, and all this money. Shout out to Christian, man. That’s my boy. Talented for sure.”

Even though Kamara has yet to get paid by the Saints, the former third round NFL Draft pick would absolutely welcome a long-term contract extension to remain in New Orleans.

“I had never been to New Orleans until I got drafted by New Orleans, so just to be able to get to New Orleans and have that city embrace me, and just take me in, basically like adopt me, it’s amazing,” Kamara added. “There is so much love there. It’s a dope city, outside of football. It’s beautiful people. It’s lit. It’s alive. If we’re talking about football, I’ve never been around a group of guys like in New Orleans that just want to win and just want to be there for each other and want to be around each other.”

The Saints and Panthers play each other twice per season as this running back rivalry may very well continue for quite some time.
