The New Orleans Saints have put together an impressive 5-1 start to the 2019 regular season. However, they are always looking to improve and one method of doing so could involve a potential trade for Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert, according to Katherine Terrell of The Athletic.

“The Saints have shown past interest in Eifert, according to league sources, although his numerous injuries scared them off. Now that he’s healthy, don’t be surprised if the Saints make a play for him. It’s not inconceivable that Eifert could be let go for a fourth-round pick.”

Eifert has totaled 15 receptions for 108 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in six performances so far this season. He is finally healthy after dealing with injuries that have caused him to play in a total of just 14 games since a 2015 season that featured 13 touchdown receptions.

The interesting aspect of this idea is that Saints tight end Jared Cook has outproduced Eifert with 15 receptions resulting in 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Of course, it's important to note that the Bengals' struggling offense makes it difficult for individuals to shine, so it's possible that Eifert could expand his impact with a change of scenery.

It is unclear what the Saints would need to offer the Bengals in order to acquire Eifert. However, it is rare for Cincinnati to make trades mid-season so the prospect of pulling off such a transaction could be unlikely for New Orleans.
