The New Orleans Saints are set to host veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall for a visit on Monday with the intention of signing him, per Nick Underhill of The Advocate.

The Saints are once again in need of another receiver after their most recent signing, Dez Bryant, went down with a torn Achilles. Marshall worked out for the Saints last week along with Bryant and Kamar Aiken, but the Saints ultimately decided to sign Bryant.

Marshall had 11 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown with the Seattle Seahawks this season before they released him in October.

The Saints have been banged up at receiver all season. They have five different receivers on injured reserve with Bryant, Cameron Meredith, Ted Ginn, Tommylee Lewis, and Travin Dural.

Rookie Keith Kirkwood, who was promoted from the practice squad, and second-year receivers Dan Arnold and Austin Carr, were the wideouts behind Michael Thomas on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Third-round pick Tre’Quan Smith did not get a target.

But as the Saints’ dominant 51-14 win over the Bengals proved, they are not exactly hurting offensively even with few wide receiver options available. Thomas and running back duo of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara combined for five touchdowns as they and Drew Brees continue to do more than enough damage.

It remains to be seen just how much of an impact Marshall will make on an already potent Saints offense. He did not exactly impress during his short time with the Seahawks.

But at the very least, he should be a decent red-zone target and can provide another option for Brees out wide besides Thomas.
