Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints stirred up some controversy earlier this week with his stance on kneeling during the National Anthem. The veteran quarterback has since apologized multiple times for his comments. And now, following Drew's apology, his wife Brittany shared an emotional message.

Due to all of the backlash they received, Brittany took to Instagram to issue another apology to fans and to those affected by the racial injustices in today's world.

The first step to realizing there is an issue is admitting that there is an issue in the first place. Therefore, it's a positive sign to see Drew and Brittany understand how their comments caused hurt across the country.

The entire situation began when Drew Brees went on Yahoo Sports and exclaimed that he disagrees with anyone that kneels during the National Anthem. Furthermore, he went on to say that if you kneel during the anthem, you are disrespecting the flag. However, if you didn't learn from Colin Kaepernick, kneeling during the anthem was never about the flag.

Since his original comments, Drew seems to have recanted his statement and understands why Kaepernick and others chose to kneel during the National Anthem. As a matter of fact, Drew went on to call out Donald Trump for believing the issue pertains to the flag.

There's no doubt that Drew's original stance on the racial issues came at a terrible time. While they'll need to continue earning trust back with some fans, the Brees' can continue doing so with their actions moving forward.
