New Orleans Saints star defensive end Cameron Jordan was ejected in the fourth quarter of Sunday's tight Week 14 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jordan was given an unnecessary roughness penalty after a scuffle with Chiefs tackle Andrew Wylie, triggering an automatic disqualification. On the next play, Chiefs RB Le'Veon Bell ran for a 12-yard score to all-but seal the victory for KC.

Turns out, while Jordan's ejection was a negative development for the Saints' defense, it was an unforeseen blessing in disguise for him and his family.

The veteran lineman, who is second on the Saints defense with 6.5 sacks and 12 tackles for losses on the season, revealed how the ejection enabled him to be present for the birth of his daughter later that day.

“My wife had her water break pregame, then I get ejected for a punch that wasn’t intentional 70 plays or so into the game (still marinating on that) and my daughter Chanel Jordan was born 2 hours later,” the Saints star told NFL Network's Jane Slater.

“And Monday found out I got selected to the Pro Bowl,” Jordan added.

After his ejection on Sunday, Jordan took responsibility for his actions.

“No excuses!” the Saints veteran tweeted on Sunday. “No matter how I feel about it, an ejectable offense was the outcome, I hurt the squad, and in the 4th quarter on a crucial drive! That’s on me! This loss is on me! Can’t happen! Whatever the correction I will be better.”

Props to Jordan for owning up to his recklessness, though, in retrospect, it may have been a little easier to do so considering what else he had going on that night other than the Saints game.

More importantly, congrats to Jordan and his wife on welcoming Chanel into the world.
