Although wide receiver Dez Bryant's stint with the New Orleans Saints last year may have been short, it appears he is hoping they can pick up where they left off.

Bryant has spent the offseason recovering from a torn Achilles that ended his 2018 campaign before it officially started. He said during an appearance on the CBS Sports Radio program “Tiki And Tierney,” that he feels he is still capable of competing:

“Yes, I do,” Bryant answered when asked whether his body is up for another season of punishing hits in the NFL. “But that’s all up to me. I have to make sure I’m right. I believe I can go out and win those one-on-one battles.”

Bryant added that he will give the Saints the opportunity to sign him first.

“I’ll make sure I call the Saints first, because I owe them.”

While a return to New Orleans may seem a bit far-fetched at this point in the offseason, it certainly is something to consider for the Saints. They made quite the investment by rewarding wide receiver Michael Thomas with the richest receiver contract in the NFL. Unfortunately, they have not been able to shore up much solid depth behind him with unproven names such as wide receivers Keith Kirkwood and Emmanuel Butler.

There is no question that Thomas has proven to be a bonafide No. 1 option. Regardless, the Saints are well aware of the importance of shoring up as much firepower on offense as possible. Although Bryant has fallen on some rough times as of late, his size and catch radius could make him an intriguing option in the red zone.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not head coach Sean Payton is open to the idea of giving Bryant another chance to contribute.
