FOX Sports analyst Doug Gottlieb thinks that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton should consider leaving his post to take over on the Dallas Cowboys' sideline in the future.

While Jason Garrett is still the Cowboys' coach and Payton seems firmly entrenched in New Orleans, Payton offers up the possibility of Payton one day replacing Garrett.

You have to wonder if Garrett will be on the hot seat heading into next season.

He has been the Cowboys' coach since the halfway point of 2010 and has done a solid job, going 77-59 with three NFC East division titles, but his inability to lead Dallas past the Divisional Round has to be weighing on the mind of Jerry Jones.

Let's face it: the Cowboys have not won just three playoff games since 1997, and for a proud franchise like Dallas, that is unacceptable.

So, let's say the Cowboys get bounced before the NFC Championship Game yet again next season, or, worse, miss the playoffs entirely. Does Jones make a move? And will he go after Payton?

Of course, Payton agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Saints back in March 2016, so the Cowboys would need to trade for Payton in order to bring him aboard. Or, the Saints would need to fire him, which doesn't seem very likely in the near future.

But you have to admit: imagining Payton on the Cowboys sideline does sound very realistic, as he is exactly the type of big-name coach that Jones and the rest of Dallas would love to have.
