New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees says a lawsuit he filed has been “very stressful” this offseason.

According to Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper, Brees made it back in time for the final two days of Saints minicamp on June 13. However, he missed the entirety of last week's training and part of this week's because he testified in a California courtroom.

Brees filed a lawsuit against a jeweler he claims “defrauded him out of millions of dollars by lying about the value of the jewelry he sold to Brees,” per Alper. The jeweler has denied Brees' accusation.

The Times- Picayune's Josh Katzenstein identified the jeweler as Vahid Moradi of CJ Charles Jewelers of San Diego. Brees and his wife, Brittany, accused Moradi of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty. They are “seeking more than $9 million in damages,” per Katzenstein.

The Times-Picayune report says Moradi sold jewelry worth approximately $15 million. However, they discovered “the items were worth $9 million less than they paid” after appraisal, per Katzenstein.

Brees told the New Orleans Advocate (via Pro Football Talk) juggling training with the Saints and taking care of personal matters has stressed him out.

Very tough. Obviously, I'm the quarterback of this football team and I want to be with this team.

Unfortunately, there were things a bit out of our control that we had to take care of. So we take care of that and take life as it comes.

Alper says the trial should conclude “well ahead” of training camp, which kicks off in late July.

Drew Brees is a tough-as-nails quarterback on the football field. Hopefully, he can use this toughness in dealing with his personal matters. Saints fans are confident he'll be ready to go once training camp begins this summer.
