The New Orleans Saints are managing just fine without Drew Brees, as they have won their last two games following his thumb injury during the Saints' Week 2 loss against the Los Angeles Rams.

But, obviously, New Orleans would still like its quarterback back.

Brees underwent surgery on his thumb in mid-September, and the current timetable has him in line to return in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.

During Sunday night's win over the Dallas Cowboys, Brees was seen flexing his thumb on the sideline, and he told WWL Radio on Wednesday that he is now able to brush his teeth, floss and pick up a glass of water, something he couldn't do a few days ago.

While Brees seems intent on trying to beat his set timeline, it would probably behoove him to stick to the original timetable, as Teddy Bridgewater and the defense are holding down the fort without him.

The Saints have come up with a pair of huge wins over the last two weeks, first upsetting the Seattle Seahawks on the road before returning home to hold the high-powered Cowboys to just 10 points in a two-point victory.

New Orleans is now 3-1 on the season and is in sole possession of first place in the NFC South.

The Saints have a couple of very winnable games on tap the next couple of weeks, as they will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday before heading on the road to battle Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

However, in Week 7, New Orleans will have to face the ferocious Chicago Bears defense at Soldier Field.
