After being booted out by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees walked off the field at the Superdome as his retirement looms on the horizon.

While Brees himself has not formally announced his retirement, there's been whispers around the league that this will indeed be the 42-year-old's final season in the NFL. Ahead of the divisional round between the Saints and Buccaneers, Jay Glazer pointed out that Brees' retirement is imminent.

“Drew Brees, tonight will be the last game he plays at the Superdome,” Glazer said. “And whatever his last game is, if they lose tonight, if they lose next week that will be the last game he plays in the NFL. I really believe this is it.”

Brees' retirement has been one of the narratives of the 2020 NFL season. His legendary career has been on an expected downturn as Brees' numbers have dropped to career-lows. His 245.2 passing yards per game were the lowest of his Saints tenure since 2006.

If this indeed marks his last season as a pro, he'll walk away as one of the best quarterbacks to do it. In his resume is a Super Bowl title, as well as the second all-time in both passing yards and touchdowns to Tom Brady.
