Eli Apple didn't fit in with the New York Giants and it showed early on. The Giants traded him off to the New Orleans Saints and reunited him with some of his former Ohio State Buckeyes and he couldn't happier with where he is.

The Saints secondary is very close, something that wasn't the case in New York, and he is overjoyed with how close of relationship he has with everyone on the team.

“It was a blessing coming here,” Apple said via ESPN. “Knowing so many guys already, we just clicked instantly. From our days back, of course. And then other guys that I didn’t really know well, we’re also clicking and gaining a relationship, going out and learning how the guys are off the field.

Apple said one of the biggest things he has worked on since coming to New Orleans is being more mature, both on and off the field, and he thinks he has been successful.

“It’s all been good, just getting better. Just trying to mature more as a player, as a person. Especially in the offseason, you kind of get a chance to unwind and look back at things you’ve done well, you’ve done bad. Just trying to just overall get better as a person and as a player too.”

The Saints didn't pick up Apple's fifth-year option but that doesn't mean that the team doesn't want him back.

Apple is still a developing player but since coming to the Saints he has taken steps forward and with another big year this year he should be in line for a nice new contract.
