The wideout department for the New Orleans Saints is very fragile at the moment ahead of Sunday. Emmanuel Sanders has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, while Michael Thomas is nursing an apparent hamstring injury that appeared on the injury report.

Sanders' placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list means he's out for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. The wideout practiced on Thursday and now must quarantine.

As for Thomas, he's also out as the waters become a little deeper for the wide receiver who was hoping to make his return against the Panthers on Sunday. Thomas recently was suspended for one game following an altercation with a teammate at practice, which was initially released as a continuance of his ankle injury that would keep him sidelined against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Now with Sanders and Thomas out, the Saints will be without both of their best wide receivers ahead of Sunday. While Thomas has seen limited action due to his injury, he's still coming off a phenomenal 2019 season in which he caught a record 149 passes for 1,725 yards. He also finished the season with nine touchdowns, resulting in his second consecutive First-Team All-Pro season.

For Sanders, the 11-year veteran recently enjoyed his best performance of the season, completing 12-of-14 targets for 122 yards. Without both wideouts, the Saints will look to get halfback Alvin Kamara going early in the contest, seeing as how he's been extremely successful in the passing game this year.
