The New Orleans Saints have put their faith in Marshon Lattimore to be a lockdown cornerback and ESPN is projecting a big season from him.

After finishing last season with 59 tackles, 12 pass deflections, and two interceptions, ESPN is expecting bigger numbers this year. Their official projections including 69 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and two interceptions.

Last season for Lattimore got off to a rocky start but he soon got his footing and started making big strides quickly. The expectation is that he can be on the opposing teams best wide receiver and shut them down.

Lattimore is going to be a huge key in the Saints passing defense getting better. Last season they gave up 4,302 yards which ranked 29th in the league.

One reason that number was high was that the Saints offense put up so many points and teams were forced to throw the ball. That doesn't account for it all though and Lattimore and the rest of the secondary needs to be better.

Lattimore is also playing for the future and his next contract. Lattimore has only two years left on the guaranteed part of his contract with the third year being a team option.

There has already been talk about what type of contract he will receive when he is eligible and many believe it could be one of the biggest cornerback deals ever.

To get an offer with that much money Lattimore is going to need to continue to play at a high level and prove why he deserves such a big raise.
