New Saints quarterback Jameis Winston had a historic year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. It wasn't for all the right reasons, though.

Some of it was great. That includes Winston throwing for over 5,000 yards and 33 touchdowns. However, he also became the lone member of the 30-30 club as he also threw 30 interceptions.

Over the offseason, a few reasons for the odd season were revealed. One of them was Winston's eyesight, and he was going to have LASIK surgery to correct it.

Despite that, teams still seemed to be staying away from Winston. Then earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints inked him to a deal to be the new backup behind Drew Brees. This could set him up nicely to be the replacement once Brees retires.

And in case anyone was wondering how the LASIK has helped, Greg Auman of The Athletic took to Twitter to share what Winston had to say about the effects.

That could not have made playing quarterback easy. If Winston wasn't able to read license plates and street signs, it is hard imagine he always had clear vision of the football field.

Winston is undoubtedly talented. Even with the 30 interceptions in 2019, a quarterback doesn't throw for over 5,000 yards and 33 touchdowns by accident. So the Saints could have just gotten their next franchise quarterback to play backup for a little bit.

Obviously, it's impossible to tell just how much the LASIK will help with his performance. It's easy to guess that there will be some sort of improvement in his game. Having the ability to actually see definitely won't hurt his quarterback play.
