New Orleans Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins only spent a few weeks with New Orleans Saints, but he hopes that he can continue with the team next season. Jenkins has one year left on his contract, but the Saints can release him without incurring any dead cap space.

“That's my plan,” Jenkins said via Rod Walker of NOLA.com. “I'd love to see that. Business is business. They control what goes on. I'm just happy to be here and hope I can stay.”

Jenkins played well for the Saints and even forced a key fumble early in their loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Jenkins said even though he wasn't on the Saints long, the loss didn't sting any less.

“It was tough,” Jenkins said. “It hurt me, I can't front. We're going to come back next year and hopefully make it back and do better than we did this year.”

Saints coach Sean Payton was also impressed with what he saw in the few weeks from Jenkins. He made a big impact on the team, and reading between the lines it seems Payton might want him back.

“I thought he did well,” coach Sean Payton said Tuesday. “Look, he's a real good foot athlete. He's smart, he came in and competed. Obviously he was in great shape, but I was encouraged and impressed.”

Another New York Giants turned Saints cornerback Eli Apple is set to be an unrestricted free agent this season so it might end up being the team choosing between Apple or the newcomer Jenkins.
