The New Orleans Saints are set to bring in former Oakland Raiders tight end Jared Cook to help shore up their passing attack this offseason. It seems quarterback Drew Brees had plenty to do with his decision to sign with New Orleans.

Cook is coming off a stellar 2018 NFL season with the Raiders. According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, he is excited to see what he can do with Brees as his quarterback.

“I’ve been a big fan of Drew for a long time and the way he approaches the game,” Cook said. “He’s on point. He’s on top of his game right now. He’s just a baller. I look forward to seeing him do great things in the future.”

“It could be a big production year. Just as long as I take care of what I can take care of, we should be all right.”

Cook's excitement is certainly understandable. Brees is a future Hall of Famer and one of the most decorated passers in NFL history. More importantly, he has shown a special affinity for using his tight ends as safety nets over the years.

The 31-year-old is coming off a career year in Oakland. Cook finished the 2018 campaign with 68 catches for 896 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise lackluster Raiders offense. It is safe to assume that he will have much more room to work with as a member of his new high-powered unit which could potentially lead to even bigger numbers next season.
