The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a four-year deal worth $14.4 million with free-agent running back Latavius Murray, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Murray spent the 2018 campaign with the Minnesota Vikings, rushing for 578 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (181st pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He played in 15 games during his rookie campaign, totaling 424 yards and a couple of scores while registering 5.2 yards per attempt. Then, the following year, Murray made the Pro Bowl after racking up 1,066 yards and six touchdowns on the ground while hauling in 41 receptions for 232 yards.
The Titusville, Fl. native then spent one more year with the Raiders in 2016, finishing with 788 yards and 12 scores as a rusher while snaring 33 balls for 264 yards in the passing game.
Murray then went on to sign a three-year contract with the Vikings. In his first season with the club, he tallied 842 yards while reaching the end zone eight times, but he logged just 3.9 yards per carry.
The Saints are coming off of a season in which they won 13 games and not only captured the NFC South division title, but finished with the best record in the NFL overall. They then defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round of the playoffs before suffering a devastating loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, marking the second straight season they lost a playoff game in heartbreaking fashion.
