The New Orleans Saints didn't exactly have an outstanding campaign in 2021. They have been working hard in the offseason to come back stronger this coming year, though, and they might have just gotten a major boost ahead of the new season.

This comes in the form of Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas, who are both progressing significantly on their respective roads to recovery. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, “there's optimism in the building” with regard to the two Saints stars (h/t NFL.com):

Thomas has been at the team facility, is on the same page as new head coach Dennis Allen and there is optimism he'll be cleared sometime early in training camp, Rapoport reported. Winston, who participated in organized team activities, is expected to be fully healthy heading into the season.

Jameis Winston saw his season come to an end in October of last year after being forced to undergo surgery for a knee injury. The Saints had a 5-2 record in the seven games Winston started, and this time around, the Pro Bowl quarterback will be looking to build off of his strong start last season.

Michael Thomas, on the other hand, hasn't been on the field for over a year now after going under the knife before the start of the 2021 season. He has been working hard in his rehab, though, and at this point, all signs are pointing to the fact that he'll be good to go to start the new season.

The Saints could be a dangerous team in 2022.
