New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram has had a fantastic career thus far, but the 29-year old saw his production dip this season after a suspension held him out the first four games of the season. Another factor that led to Ingram's lackluster season was the strong play of teammate Alvin Kamara as well as the pass-first tendency of the Saints offense.

According to Sean Fazende of FOX 8, Ingram wants to stay with New Orleans but will test NFL free agency this offseason.

The former Alabama running back won't likely receive a huge contract in terms of money or a long-term deal considering his age. Ingram still runs the bull with a full head of steam and has shown that he can compete in the league at an elite level.

The Saints used Ingram and Kamara very effectively last season as a tandem, but the Saints clearly favored Kamara due to his incredible versatility. Kamara is an electric runner as well as an excellent pass catcher, but the thunderous run-style of Ingram is a great complement to the offense.

The Saints front office has voiced their desire to hold onto Ingram, but it's likely they won't be willing to break the bank in regards to extending the eight-year vet. Ingram had back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in 2016 and 2017 but didn't even hit the 500 mark in 2018. It would be a tough call for the Saints to let Ingram go to another team seeing as they know what he is capable of.
