Drew Brees may be losing his big receiving target for a bit, or he may not. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the New Orleans Saints star wide receiver suffered a high-ankle injury during the Saints 34-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it appears to be something he believes he will be able to play through.

From Pelissero:

#Saints star WR Michael Thomas suffered a high-ankle injury in Sunday’s win over the #Bucs, but it’s something he believes he can play through, sources tell me and @RapSheet. With an extra day before next Monday’s game vs. #Raiders, nobody ruling Thomas out.

The injury doesn't sound to be all that serious, which is a good sign for the Saints. Thomas is fortunate that the Saints are playing Monday night next week, which gives the fifth-year pro an extra day to rest up and heal.

Especially with the added day, it does not appear as though the Saints are even entertaining the thought of Thomas missing the Week 2 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In the Week 1 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thomas caught three passes for 17 yards.

Thomas is entering his fifth season in the NFL and with the Saints. He has made the Pro Bowl the past three years, only failing to make the team in his rookie season.

Last season he set the single-season record for most receptions in a season with 149, which led to 1725 yards and nine touchdowns, winning Offensive Player of the Year.
